PORTRAYING YOURSELF REKINDLES FEELINGS THAT HAVE BEEN BURIED, LIKE LOOKING YOURSELF IN THE EYE AND SEEING DEEP INTO YOUR OWN SOUL.

When I sat down and began to sketch the lines of my face I started to feel nervous and began to shake. It was extremely difficult to paint myself, digging deep down to bring up to the surface only my colours, going beyond the shadows, capturing those moments of intensity and transferring them onto the canvas with love and determination. Seeing yourself reflected in your own eyes and drawing on the same energy. Rediscovering Terry and bringing her to the light was a real challenge.
